ESAFE Is Accredited to Approve Medical Electrical Equipment

December 23, 2016

ESAFE is pleased to announce that its accreditation as an Inspection Body now includes scope for Medical Electrical Equipment.

Our inspection team is trained to Field Evaluate and approve Medical Electrical Equipment (MEE) under the new CSA SPE-3000 Model Code.  ESAFE’s SPE-3000 approval mark is accepted in all jurisdictions in Canada.

Did you know that most equipment that has any electrical components and comes into contact with a patient requires approval as a medical device?  This includes such things as patient beds, operating tables, operation theater lights, ultrasound diagnostic units, etc.

ESAFE is able to perform SPE-3000 inspections on most MEE except X-Ray, MRI, CT Scanners, Lasers and equipment for cosmetic use.

When you are ready to have your Medical Electrical Equipment evaluated please fill out our online application.  We will be sure to respond to your request within two business days.
